
Teresa Carroll, public board member and former president, Kelly Services
Teresa Carroll is a transformative, dynamic business executive who brings extensive board experience and a proven track record of driving change and delivering results, including architecting multiple turnarounds and leading a $2 billion operating unit to sustained record-setting profits. Carroll has held several leadership roles, including simultaneously serving as executive vice president, president of global talent solutions, and general manager of sales, marketing, and human resources, all for Kelly Services. Carroll’s board experience includes serving as an independent director of Zovio, an education management and technology company, and as a member of the Conference Board’s Labor Market Institute Advisory Board. Carroll earned a master of business administration from the University of Michigan. She is a member of the Society of Women Engineers and founding council member of Leadership in Action, Kelly Services’ business resource group for the development and advocacy of female leaders.

Jeff Harris, chairman and co-founder, ettain group
Harris is co-founder and chief executive officer of ettain group, an information technology, health care IT, and digital creative talent solutions company with offices in North Carolina, Virginia, DC, Minnesota, Tennessee, and Texas. He is co-founder of the National Staffing Alliance and the IT Staffing Executive Roundtable. Harris also is a board member of IT-oLogy, a community organization devoted to influencing and promoting IT-related education. Harris is a member of the ASA board of directors.

Craig Hopewell, president, Hopewell Law
Craig Hopewell, recently retired chief legal officer of BelFlex Staffing and founder of Hopewell Law, handles contracts, employment law issues, regulatory matters and risk management. Harris is actively involved with helping staffing companies prospect for acquisitions. Previously he worked in the engineering, short-term finance, venture capital, and manufacturing worlds. Hopewell is a member of the ASA Legal and Legislative Committee.

Kelly Irons, chief executive officer, developUs
Irons is the chief executive officer of developUs, a Charlotte, NC-based employee development firm. With 20 years of training design and delivery experience, 10-plus years in leadership development roles, and a master’s degree in adult education, Irons has a long history of working with those in the learning and development field as well as audiences from a multitude of backgrounds and industries. Her leadership style and commitment to individual and organizational excellence have earned her multiple awards throughout her career. Today, her roots in human development have remained at the core of her business practice, and she operates under a guiding philosophy that to make an impact on a group, you must make an impact on the individuals that make up the group. From this foundation, her work in coaching, mentoring, and leadership emerged.

Toby Malara, Esq., government affairs counsel
Malara, government affairs counsel for ASA, manages all staffing-related legislation and regulation on behalf of ASA and represents the industry’s interests before Congress and state legislatures. He provides government relations counsel to the association’s affiliated state organizations and regional councils, and directs political fund-raising activities through StaffingPAC, the ASA political action committee. Malara is a graduate of Georgetown University and received his law degree from Catholic University. He is a member of the Maryland bar association.

Alex Maultsby, partner, Fox Rothschild
Maultsby provides employment counseling, advice, and litigation services to clients across a broad span of industries. He frequently appears before the state and federal courts in North Carolina. In his role Maultsby regularly advises clients on how to comply with regulations, implement internal policies and address complaints, manage personnel issues, and minimize litigation risks associated with difficult personnel decisions. Clients also engage Maultsby to develop executive employment and compensation agreements and to draft and litigate nondisclosure, noncompetition, and non-solicitation agreements—all key business tools for recruiting and retaining managers and for minimizing loss when employees depart.

Rachel Modrak, partner, Staffing eTrainer
Modrak is a staffing industry trainer and consultant. She started her career in 1997, and throughout her 17-year tenure with CoWorx, she played a critical role in the operational strategy. She went on to work for Adecco as vice president of operations, where she supported a $350+ million division providing strategy in service for large clients, order fulfillment, and associate recruiting and retention. In 2017 she created Apex Staffing Consulting Group to provide strategic solutions that solve problems by improving strategy, training, and hiring.

Joyce Russell, president, Adecco Staffing
Russell is committed to making the future work for everyone and has firmly established her reputation and passion for working with people and providing new opportunities for both employees and companies. In 1987, Russell joined Adecco as a branch manager in Charlotte, NC. From 2004–2018, she served as the president of Adecco Staffing U.S., leading the largest business unit of Adecco Group North America, with more than 450 branch locations, approximately 1,800 colleagues and a diverse portfolio of clients. In 2015, Staffing Industry Analysts named Russell in their Global Power 100—Women in Staffing list. Russell is a member of the ASA board of directors.

Carol Sankar, founder, The Confidence Factor for Women in Leadership
Sankar is a business consultant and the founder of The Confidence Factor for Women, which is a global executive leadership firm focused on inclusion initiatives for high-level women. Carol has been featured at TEDx, The Steve Harvey Show, Fast Company, Inc. Magazine, Columbia Business School and more. In addition, she is a contributor for Inc. & Entrepreneur Magazine.

Jessica Schaeffer, senior director of marketing, communications, LaSalle Network
Schaeffer is senior director of marketing, communications at LaSalle Network, a national staffing, recruiting and culture firm honored with more than 100 culture and revenue-based awards. Since joining LaSalle Network eight years ago, Schaeffer oversees all of LaSalle Network’s marketing and branding initiatives. She has been quoted in Fast Company, Forbes, and Marketing News magazine, and has been featured on FOX Good Day Chicago, ABC Chicago, and WGN.

Leo Sheridan, chief executive officer and president, Advanced Group
Sheridan is chief executive officer and president of the Advanced Group, a staffing and outsourcing solutions provider with offices across the U.S. In 1988, Sheridan founded Advanced Resources, and as the firm quickly expanded, he added additional businesses to create the Advanced Group. Today, the Advanced Group includes Advanced Resources, Advanced Clinical, the WunderLand Group, and Advanced RPO. A community-focused leader, when he’s not driving Advanced Group forward, he is an active volunteer, board member and advisor for both professional organizations and nonprofits, with a focus on diversity, gender equality and underserved youth. Sheridan has provided leadership to a variety of professional organizations, including TechServe Alliance and the Young Presidents’ Organization. He is the chairman of the ASA board of directors.

Chris Taylor, founder and chief executive officer, Actionable.co
