New Data From Quarterly ASA Staffing Employment and Sales Survey
U.S. staffing companies employed an average of 3.03 million temporary and contract employees per day in the third quarter of 2013, up 2.6% from the same period in 2012, according to survey data released today by the American Staffing Association. The ASA Staffing Employment and Sales Survey collects information on U.S. temporary and contract staffing employment and sales on a quarterly basis.
“The staffing industry is proud of the role it played in providing employment opportunities to increasing numbers of U.S. workers during the past quarter,” says Richard Wahlquist, president and chief executive officer of the American Staffing Association. “From career counseling services to job placement, staffing and recruiting firms offer valuable resources and employment for job seekers.”
Temporary and contract staffing sales totaled $27.38 billion in the third quarter of 2013, 2.8% higher than the same period in 2012. The ASA Staffing Employment and Sales Survey has been conducted on a quarterly basis since 1992. The survey covers approximately 10,000 establishments (about a third of the industry) and the employment results parallel the establishment surveys of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
