MA Sets New High for Total Employment


The Massachusetts Office of Labor and Workforce Development confirmed the state had achieved a new peak in total employment. Total employment, or the sum of all jobs in the state, was nearly 3.4 million. The previous high was posted in February 2001, or two recessions ago. “I’ve been here for 10 years, and this makes me go right to the 2007 days, before the recession,” said Matt Katz, a Burlington-based regional vice president for Robert Half. “Companies are hiring in multiples, both for temporary and permanent employees. In some cases, there are more jobs than candidates.”
