Getting to Diversity: What Works and What Doesn’t

Overview

Highlights

Every year America becomes more diverse, but improvements in corporate diversity have stalled. The problem has become an urgent matter of national debate. How can employers fix it? Bestselling books preach moral reformation. Employers, however well intentioned, follow guesswork and whatever their peers happen to be doing. Arguing that it’s time to focus on changing systems rather than individuals, Frank Dobbin, the Henry Ford II Professor of the Social Sciences at Harvard, will discuss his new book (written with Alexandra Kalev), Getting to Diversity: What Works and What Doesn’t, a comprehensive, data-driven analysis of what succeeds and what fails in corporate diversity efforts.

During this webinar, attendees will learn

  • Why most diversity programs have failed
  • How simple steps that open career systems to all can promote diversity
  • How to engage managers in leading, rather than resisting, change

His research has been covered by the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Economist, the Boston Globe, Le Monde, CNN, National Public Radio, Fast Company, and Slate.
