Schiff earned an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering and computer science in 2005 and a Ph.D. in applied machine learning in 2009 from the University of California, Berkeley. In 2006, he co-founded FotoFlexer.com, an online photo editing company that powered companies including MySpace and Photobucket. In 2009, Schiff joined Ness Computing, as vice president of product and machine learning, which was sold to OpenTable in 2014. While working at OpenTable, Schiff saw an opportunity to transform the way that recruiting works through machine learning and automation, and he founded RecruitBot in 2017 to spearhead the mission to automate recruiting.
