Nick Rudman, Esq., associate general counsel, Medical Solutions
Montaye Sigmon, Esq., partner, Akerman LLP

Join this timely discussion with industry compliance and regulatory leaders about the challenges they are facing in today’s heightened and changing health care compliance environment. Panelists will discuss their thoughts on the increasing complexity of audits and state-specific reporting requirements, including the challenges of handling simultaneous audits; maintaining data accuracy, data security, and potential downstream industry impact; and addressing the obligations of all parties in a vendor management system (VMS) or managed supplier provider (MSP) relationship.

2–2:45 p.m.

Navigating Clinician Licensure Compacts
Nicole Livanos, Esq., director, government affairs, National Council of State Boards of Nursing
Peter Mecouch, RN, chief clinical and compliance officer, GHR Healthcare
James Puente, director, nurse licensure compact, National Council of State Boards of Nursing
Steve Wehn, VP, government and community relations, AMN Healthcare

State licensure compacts are crucial for the health care travel industry, and with the Nurse Licensure Compact now expanding to 43 states, things are trending in the right direction. However, with major states such as New York and California still not part of the compact, there is much work to be done. There are 14 other national compacts in effect and in development as well as fast-track licenses that can help expand where health care professionals can practice. The compact landscape will expand tremendously in the next two years. This panel of experts will discuss these various compacts and the advocacy that needs to be done to get more states on board.

2:45–3 p.m.

3–3:45 p.m.

Federal and State Legislative and Regulatory Update

James Hauser, director of government affairs, Aya Healthcare
Toby Malara, Esq., VP, government relations, American Staffing Association
Steve Pedersen, Esq., chief legal officer, Medical Solutions

With a new administration, Congress, and several state legislatures now in place, the question is: What do these changes potentially mean for recent legislative efforts aimed at the health care industry? Will the states continue their assault on noncompete agreements and conversion fees? Will they continue to require health care staffing agencies to submit more and more data about their operations? Are rate caps still being considered? Panelists will discuss what they have seen to date and what we can expect to see in the coming months and beyond

3:45–5 p.m.

Laura Cook, Esq., corporate counsel and VP of legal, Travel Nurse Across America LLC
