Staffing Industry Shed 44,000 Jobs Quarter-to-Quarter, a 2% Decline
U.S. staffing companies employed an average of 2.2 million temporary and contract workers per week in the first quarter of 2024, down 7.7% or around 186,000 jobs from the fourth quarter to the first quarter. Year-to-year, staffing jobs fell 13.9% from 1Q23. Staffing sales totaled $31.5 billion in 1Q24, down 8.4% quarter-to-quarter and 15.9% year-to-year.
