ASA Staffing Index Continues at Record High Levels

ASA Staffing Index Monthly Report, August 2018

The ASA Staffing Index for the week of Aug. 6–12 strengthened by 0.7% to a rounded value of 101—the third consecutive week the index has reached record highs for their comparable weeks. This also marks the first time the index has reached a rounded figure of 101 before September since its inception in 2006. Temporary and contract staffing employment was 3.9% higher than the same week last year.

This week, containing the 12th, will be used in the August monthly employment situation report that will be issued by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics on Sept. 7.

The ASA Staffing Index four-week moving average increased again to a rounded value of 100, a record high for the same span of weeks. Staffing employment for the four weeks ending Aug. 12 was 3.6% higher year-to-year, the fastest rate of year-to-year growth since 2014.
