Fed: Modest to Moderate Economic Growth; Staffing Demand Up

Share

Economic activity expanded across the U.S., according to the Federal Reserve Board’s latest report on regional economies (known as the “beige book”), with a majority of districts reporting modest to moderate growth. Employment and wages continued to expand at a modest or moderate pace across most of the nation, but employers again reported tight labor markets and difficulties finding and retaining qualified workers—particularly highly skilled engineers, finance and sales professionals, construction and manufacturing workers, information technology professionals, and truck drivers. Staffing demand grew in several districts.
