The American Staffing Association today released this statement to the news media from Richard Wahlquist, president and chief executive officer, about the staffing industry’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic:
America can count on the U.S. staffing industry to help source and deploy talent whenever and wherever it’s needed most during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Now more than ever, private and public sector organizations are turning to the staffing industry to supply workers for essential and life-sustaining services. The demand for this talent is growing almost exponentially with each passing day.
A top priority of the American Staffing Association, its board of directors, and the U.S. staffing and recruiting industry is to protect the safety and well-being of everyone employed by staffing agencies—particularly the nation’s millions of temporary and contract employees.
More than 16 million people are on assignment through staffing agencies in the U.S. each year, getting the work they need and supplying businesses with access to talent and flexible workforce solutions.
Since the onset of the crisis, ASA has been providing Covid-19 guidance and information to staffing agencies and their clients on critically important issues related to the health, safety, and well-being of America’s temporary and contract employees.
The association offers an online Covid-19 resource library (americanstaffing.net/covid-19) that is being continually updated with the latest information and guidance addressing health and safety issues, legal concerns, and the business hardships created by efforts to quell the pandemic.
Also, ASA is on the front lines working with government officials and business leaders as new public policies and legislation are developed to address the pandemic, always advocating on behalf of the interests of the staffing industry and the millions of men and women it employs every day.
ASA is committed to ensuring that America continues to have access to a skilled flexible workforce that is vitally important to maintaining the uninterrupted flow of essential goods and services during the current crisis and as the pandemic abates and the country begins to recover.
Covid-19 is presenting unprecedented social and economic challenges. ASA and the staffing industry remain united in protecting future jobs and the economic health of our nation as everyone works together to navigate through the pandemic.
