This bulletin addresses what both the staffing agency and the host employer can do to ensure that temporary workers are protected from exposure to bloodborne pathogens in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration standard 29 CFR 1910.1030 Bloodborne Pathogens.

OSHA has issued recommended practices for temporary workers, policy background, and seven initiative bulletins, including Injury and Illness Recordkeeping, Personal Protective Equipment, Whistleblower Protection Rights, Safety and Health Training, Hazard Communication, the new Bloodborne Pathogens, and Powered Industrial Truck Training.

The temporary worker initiative focuses on compliance with safety and health requirements when temporary workers are employed under the joint employment of a staffing agency and a host employer.
