State Employment Law Updates for 2023

As of December 2022, the American Staffing Association CSP and TSC certification programs will no longer include state-specific questions on the online practice or final exams. The CSP and TSC, CSP exams will now focus only on federal employment laws specific to the staffing and recruiting industry.

ASA partnered with outside law firm Seyfarth Shaw LLP to create resources for four states known for their legal nuances. Please click on the state below to download and access the PDF resource. The practice and final exams do NOT include any questions from these resources—they have been only created for your reference.

If your state is not listed above:

  1. If your company is a member of the American Staffing Association, you have access to our all-star legal team to gain guidance about laws and regulations on the local, state, and federal, levels.
    a. Call ASA, 703-253-2020 and ask to be connected to our legal team
  2. Ask your internal legal or team if they have a membership to Lexology, a global legal research platform that offers free newsfeeds and searchable archives of legal articles on a wide variety of issues.
  3. Search the internet for other websites within your state, including state departments of labor and FAQs for employers, that offer answers to pressing employment law, state-specific questions.
  4. Engage a law firm well-versed in staffing specific laws and nuances. Find more information on our legal sponsors here.
