Share

The American Staffing Association yesterday inducted David Bartholomew, chief executive officer of Shearwater Health, headquartered in Nashville, TN, into the ASA Leadership Hall of Fame. Bartholomew was honored during the opening general session at Staffing World® 2019, the association’s annual convention and expo, in Las Vegas.

The ASA Leadership Hall of Fame was created in 1985 to recognize outstanding individual contributions made through dedicated service to ASA and the staffing and recruiting industry.

Bartholomew has more than 25 years of executive experience in the U.S. staffing industry. He founded Staffmark in 1991 and was responsible for growing the staffing agency from a one-office startup in Nashville to more than 400 locations today. He joined Shearwater Health in 2009 as a board member and was named president and chief executive officer by the end of that same year.

Bartholomew was a member of the ASA board of directors from 2000 to 2012, and served as ASA chairman from 2005 to 2006. He also was chairman of and served on several ASA committees such as the convention, member education, membership, workers’ compensation, and political action.

In addition to his involvement with ASA, Bartholomew is active in the World Presidents’ Organization and was chapter chairman of southern seven states for the Young Presidents’ Organization. He also is a member of several boards, including Tennessee Bank & Trust; Provider Trust (a technology service company for compliance in health care); and Staff Management (a staffing agency in New Jersey).

“On behalf of the ASA board of directors and membership, I am delighted to welcome David Bartholomew as the newest member of the Leadership Hall of Fame,” said Richard Wahlquist, ASA president and chief executive officer. “David is a passionate, effective advocate of the staffing industry and the opportunities the industry provides to the millions of people it employs. During his tenure as chairman of the ASA board of directors, the association launched several important initiatives, including a multiyear marketing and public relations campaign to elevate the perception of the staffing industry among employees and the general public. ASA highly values David’s leadership and thought leadership.”
