Staffing Wages: On Average, Southern and Western States Have Seen the Most Growth in Temporary Help Services Wages

  • Staffing wages have seen the most growth in the South and West.
  • Lower corporate taxes and stabilizing labor markets have provided increased opportunities for staffing firms and their employees.
  • Steady wages will be critical to enabling the industry to retain a healthy pipeline of workers once interest rates and inflation return to optimal ease.

Tightening economic conditions have largely depressed staffing wages, however; pockets of growth have arisen within the Southern and Western U.S. In these states, lower corporate taxes—as well as greater stabilization in levels of labor supply and demand—have provided new opportunities for staffing employers as well as their employees. As the labor market continues to shed jobs, sustained wages will be critical for maintaining current levels of staffing employment and for adding to the employee pool once economic conditions improve, thereby allowing the industry at large to have a healthy recovery.
