The ASA Women in Leadership scholarship program, launched in 2020, honors rising stars in staffing and recruiting who show exemplary professional growth potential and a commitment to a career in the industry. The program awards rising stars with free registration and travel to ASA events.

2022 Scholarship Recipients

Cheryl Campanaro

Cheryl Campanaro

Adecco USA

Campanaro got her start in staffing in 2018 as an on-site manager and quickly worked her way to area vice president. In 2021, she joined Adecco U.S., part of the world’s leading workforce solutions business, as a director of customer success. Her responsibilities in this role include overseeing a growing portfolio of international powerhouses in the consumer-packaged goods and fast-moving consumer goods space. With an engaging approach to the customer experience and a passion for people, Campanaro leverages her growing network within the global workforce solutions space to produce meaningful results that win the hearts and minds of her customers and peers. She exemplifies what it means to overcome adversity and not allow anything to hold her back: In 2012, Campanaro was paralyzed from the waist down due to a rare medical condition, but against all odds, regained feeling in late 2015 and began walking again in 2016. She takes the lessons learned from her disability into her work by keeping an upbeat spirit and enjoying every moment and not taking anything for granted.

Dawn Fry

Dawn Fry

Specialist Staffing Solutions Inc.

Fry is the U.S. head of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) for SThree and a self-described culture-hacker with a focus on inclusion and fairness in the workplace. She is a certified D&I Specialist through AIHR and received her bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Governors State University. Fry successfully launched seven employee resource groups supporting the DEI global strategy within a year’s time while transitioning full time from HR to DEI. She has more than 15 years of experience in the human resources and internal recruitment functions, as well as seven years of work in diversity management, working in a broad range of businesses such as higher education (supporting student groups such as Women Empowered; Black, Asian, and Hispanic student unions; and LBGTQIA, veterans, disability, and sustainability groups), advertising, bike share start-up, and the staffing industry. Fry has been awarded the Operating Principal Champion MVP of the Year, Rising Star, and Student Advisor of the Year. When not busy championing employees, you will find her creating art, single-parenting two older teens and a pandemic puppy, as well as volunteering weekly at Meals on Wheels.

Only five years into her career, Giffin is becoming a changemaker within the staffing industry through her steadfast commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. She is both the leader of Medix's Women's Impact group and a senior business development manager focused within the clinical research space. In these roles she seeks to create a space that welcomes transparency and vulnerability and allows for everyone to grow together. As a top producer at Medix, Giffin has had the opportunity to impact 500 lives by connecting top job seekers with the right employers, as well as impact teammates through mentorship, championing DEI, and being an advocate for mental health.

Madison Kaldenberg

Kaldenberg has been working in the staffing industry since 2016, specifically in engineering and technology. She started out as a recruiter and worked her way up to team lead, delivery manager, and now delivery director at Modis/Akkodis. Over the course of her six years at Akkodis, she has qualified for the top performers trip as a recruiter, team lead, and manager. As a director she is responsible for driving results and strategizing innovative ways to exceed clients’ needs by collaborating with internal resources and the client. Kaldenberg also assists in running the new hire training for all recruiters by coordinating orientations, trainings, and continued learning throughout a recruiter’s tenure. She resides in Vermont with her husband and two dogs and in her free time enjoys cycling, hiking, and spending time outside.

Pierce is the senior director of finance and accounting at BelFlex Staffing Network. She has worked in accounting for more than 10 years and was appointed to her current position in June of 2022. Pierce leads all strategic financial initiatives, focusing on establishing internal controls and policies, budgeting, forecasting, risk assessment, community outreach, financial planning and analysis, and more. She also identifies accounting and financial technology solutions that build connections between front-office business operations and back-office functions. Pierce values looking at the big picture, both within BelFlex and the external business community, so she can help build the company for a sustainable future.

A five-year staffing veteran, Randall currently serves as the national director of service and implementation for Staffmark Group. She specializes in on-site programs for high-volume light industrial and call center clients, and she has also served as a backend product administrator for recruiting technology. A project management professional and certified scrum master, Randall is passionate about introducing agile principles into staffing processes and creating efficient recruiting and operational practices. Her dedication to the staffing industry extends into her free time, as she has formed an organization called Project: 1nclusion (1nclusion.org)—a program that provides free mentorship, training, and job placement assistance to underrepresented professionals looking to enter the staffing and recruiting industry.

Pa Houa Vang

QPS Employment Group

Vang started in the recruiting industry in 2016 and joined QPS Employment Group in 2021, where she currently serves as a corporate recruiter. She is responsible for recruitment of internal staff from branch level positions to executive positions, streamlining and implementing new ideas in the recruitment process, and being active in the community. Vang is passionate about providing the best candidate experience during the recruiting and hiring process. She collaborates with schools, nonprofit organizations, and local communities to build strong relationships in her work. Throughout her six years of recruiting, Vang has been promoted to branch manager and talent director roles. She is a member of the career and professional development committee with the Fox Cities Chamber, and also serves as a mentor in the ASA Mentor Match program.

Noelle Williams

With more than five years of experience in the technology, government, financial, and workforce solutions industries, Williams was recently promoted to vice president of recruiting for Kavaliro, and is responsible for overseeing the recruiting and sales operations for the company. She has recruited for global clients including Walt Disney World, Darden Restaurants, Universal Studios, and the U.S. Department of Defense. Williams has been recognized as an employment expert on Fox 35 News, has been awarded Staffing Industry Analyst’s Top 40 Under 40, and has produced over $8 million for Kavaliro and achieved Ring of Fire (the company’s annual incentive trip) five times. Williams was born and raised outside of Philadelphia, and relocated to Orlando, FL, in 2008 for work. She received her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Central Florida.

Katie Larson

A six-year veteran of Celarity who’s received multiple promotions during her tenure, Katie Larson has helped more than 250 candidates in the marketing industry land positions at more than 60 organizations throughout the country. She also serves as a Celarity brand ambassador who has spoken at events throughout the Minneapolis-St. Paul region. Larson received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Minnesota.

Donita Ross

Donita Ross

Health Carousel

Donita Ross brings nearly three decades of acute hospital experience to her role as the director of nursing and quality improvement for Health Carousel. A Cincinnati native, she has developed and led several multistate educational conferences and specialty certification review courses and has spoken at regional, national, and international conferences. Ross received her bachelor of science degree in nursing and master’s degree in nursing administration from the Mount St. Joseph’s University.

High Profile Staffing

Tiffany Willis joined High Profile Staffing in 2017 and serves as a recruiter in the finance and accounting division. She is also a member of the board of directors for the Women’s Finance Exchange of Dallas. In addition to receiving her bachelor of business administration degree in finance from the University of Central Arkansas and master of business administration degree from Texas A&M University-Commerce, Willis received her Certified Staffing Professional® certification from the American Staffing Association.

Brenna Barnett

Brenna Barnett

Director of Marketing, Carlton Staffing

Brenna Barnett joined Carlton Staffing in 2015 and serves as the director of marketing. Her responsibilities include the company’s social media, public relations, branding, company engagements, and digital recruitment strategies. With the adoption of Barnett’s strategic recruiting plan, the company has seen a 472% increase in Facebook followers. At the same time, she has been able to reduce recruitment spending by 49% while still accomplishing the marketing and recruiting objectives. In addition to spearheading Carlton’s community partnership activities, her involvement with employee engagement events has earned her the unofficial title of “chief fun officer.”

Carlton has been acknowledged as a winner of the Houston Business Journal’s Best Places to Work and Houston’s Best & Brightest Companies. The company has been on ClearlyRated’s Best of Staffing list in each of the past eight years. Barnett is currently leading the yearlong celebration of Carlton’s 40th anniversary.


Madelyn Varner

Area Director, Randstad Staffing

Madelyn Varner started with Randstad Staffing in 2016 and serves as the area director of East Carolina. Her responsibilities include overseeing performance activities including, training, mentoring and motivating, business development, candidate recruiting, conflict resolution, customer service and retention, intraoperating company synergies, and profit and loss account responsibilities. In addition, she is responsible for managing and developing a team of 23 employees as well as leading by example, particularly in the areas of production and business development.

Randstad is currently ranked as a top staffing agency in the U.S., and Varner’s branches have been honored as “Best Rated” for staffing agencies in their locations.
